ROCKTAPE (KINESIOTAPE)
Rocktape is a relatively modern therapy that involves the application of specifically pre-stretched tape over the skin for a variety of different outcomes, depending on your needs. Originally developed by a Japanese chiropractor, Dr Kenzo Kase in the 1970’s, Kinesiotape was created to assist in his patient’s healing and to improve their day-to-day lives. Later adapted by another chiropractor in the USA, Dr Greg van den Dries, to be stickier and stretchier - Rocktape was born.
The application of Rocktape causes the skin to wrinkle and form convolutions due to it’s unique elasticity; this reaction causes the tissue immediately beneath the skin to decompress.
The three main effects of Rocktape:
1. Fluid changes
Improved blood flow and lymphatic drainage in and out of the target area.
2. Mechanical changes
Improved gliding and sliding between tissue layers under the taped region.
3. Neurological changes
Altered perception of pain (nociception) and improved body awareness (proprioception).

What can Rocktape can help with?
• Poor posture - particularly for people who spend a lot of time working at computers or physical labouring
• Muscle pain and/or muscle cramping - E.g. lower back, calf muscles, hamstring muscles, shoulder/neck muscles
• Joint pain - E.g. shoulder pain, elbow pain, knee pain
• Reducing inflammation or bruising following an injury
