ACTIVE MUSCULAR RELEASE TECHNIQUES
Active muscular release refers to a style of hands on treatment that is aimed at releasing tightness and tension in mainly muscles, but can be applied to ligament, fascia, tendons, nerve or capsule tissue.
The targeted tissue is held with tension in a shortened position as the structure is then lengthened through a full range of active motion in order to release any tension and improve the function of the tissue involved. There is no skin tension or sliding/friction on the skin.
This technique is directed at specifically dysfunctional tissue, and is quite different from a typical massage.
WHAT INJURIES CAN ACTIVE MUSCULAR RELEASE HELP WITH?
• ITB syndrome
• Hamstring strain
• Hip flexor tightness/dysfunction
• Shin splints
• Achilles tendinitis
• Performance enhancement
• Pre and post sporting events
• Shoulder issues/Rotator cuff problems
• Knee pain
• Wrist pain and carpal tunnel syndrome
• Elbow pain or Tennis/Golfer’s elbow
• Neck pain
• Back pain
• Poor posture/Tight pectoral muscles
